Bridges International Insurance Services (BIIS) has an opening for a regular part time licensed insurance advisor, who is required to pass the Fundamentals of Insurance exam before starting work.

BIIS is a member of the Insure BC Group that is one of the largest independent insurance brokers groups in BC. BIIS is specialized in business and commercial insurance for small- to medium-size businesses, and insurance broking in travel and medical insurance for all Canadians and visitors to Canada, mainly from Japan.

The insurance advisor is a source of positive impressions and builds long-lasting relationships with our clients and helps them find value propositions from insurers through identifying their needs for insurance coverage. The insurance advisor collaborates with a team who is passionate about igniting unparalleled client loyalty that enables BIIS to be most trusted organization in this industry.

With level 1 license key responsibilities include: consultation, sales transactions, upgrades, claim assistance, checking account receivables and personal insurance to new and renewing clients policies. Through consultation and advice in-person, by e-mail, or over the phone sales, acquires new clients, where required and with the appropriate qualifications, sells additional products and services BIIS offers. Renews personal insurance policies by reviewing current coverage and making recommendations. Once level 2 license acquired, commercial insurance business will be included and the position can become full time.

Deepens client relationships through excellence in customer service including informing client value and opportunities to save with BIIS supplier's underwriters.

Manages and processes clients accounts, issues new and renews transactions including endorsements. Meets all required processing standards for storage, retrieval, confidentiality, accuracy, and timeliness. Other duties as assigned, greeting and administrative duties when co-workers are absent.

In order to advance and to raise the remuneration, continue to study to pass CAIB exams.

Starting Remuneration $14.50 - $15.50 per hour.

Qualifications:

- Completion of post-secondary education
- Professional proficiency in English and Japanese languages
- Excellent customer service skills with 2 years experience
- Obtaining level 1 license before starting
- Possess organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal communications skills
- Able to consider costs and benefits of potential products in order to make appropriate recommendations.
- Proven judgment and decision-making abilities.
- Able to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
- Strong computer skills with basic knowledge of MS Office Suite Products (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Background Check:

Must successfully pass a reference check, which may include a criminal, credit, and credential check.

This new position is a unique opportunity to be an integral part of a growing and vibrant cultural organization whose mission is to promote Japanese language and culture and actively uphold Vancouver’s Nikkei community history through education and programs. This position has the following essential requirements :
-Proficiency in Japanese and English (both verbal and written) is a must.Familiarity in a third language is beneficial but not required.
-Sales and Marketing background in Nuclear Medicine and medical devices.
-Experience in logistics and the shipping of dangerous goods / radioactive materials and nuclear medicine, especially regarding the Japanese Nuclear Medicine Industry, is necessary. This includes freight forwarding, customs/broker documents and duties for dangerous goods.
-Also required is knowledge of radiopharmaceuticals, radiochemicals and the medical devices that service the industry.

Beneficial skills are :
-Proficiency in Microsoft Office is essential especially Word, Excel, Outlook. Knowledge in data entry and client recording software such as ACT by Sage.
-Previous experience in scientific document translation from English and Japanese and vice versa is an advantage.
-Previous experience in a professional office environment and the ability to work independently and with team is an advantage.
-The ability to excel in a team environment is critical.
-The candidate should be an effective multi-tasker with a flexible mindset and attention to detail. The candidate must be able to travel on short notice.

Position Description :
You will assist the Marketing Manager for Japan and Asia as well as provide some support as needed to the Executive Assistant to the Managing Director. Your main responsibilities will be source and find customers to sell to in the Japanese and Asian markets for nuclear medicine products. You will act as the customer service agent for all inquiries from our Japanese clients. You will be contacting key stakeholders in the Japan Nuclear Medicine Market including doctors, private firms, government agencies, and non-government organizations. You will work with freight forwarders custom brokers for shipping dangerous goods and other products. Follow up with the customers and contacts will be key.
